Ardéche Wines

Formerly classified as Vin de Pays, Coteaux de l’Ardéche now covers IGP-level wines in the south of Ardéche where the Mediterranean climate is perfect for wine production with mild winters followed by dry hot summers. We list six wines produced by the Vignerons Ardéchois (also known as UVICA – Union des Vignerons des Coteaux de l’Ardèche), which was created in the late 1960s when seven major Co-opératives agreed a forward-thinking strategy of modernisation, re-planting and marketing to take their wines into the 21st century. Based in the town of Ruoms, south of Aubenas, this creative planning has revitalised the area, which is steeped in history and can trace its wine-making roots back to Roman times.
